Peren Coskun

Vice President, Central Massachusetts Chapter at Association for Women in Science

Peren Coskun has a diverse work experience, starting as a Summer Research Intern at Yale University School of Medicine in 2011. They then worked at Sabanci University as an Undergraduate Student Researcher and later as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant. In 2016, they joined UMass Chan Medical School as a Graduate Research Assistant, and later became a Graduate Teaching Assistant. In 2022, they worked at Nucleate as the Communications Lead and later took on roles as the Vice President of Expert and Mentor Recruitment, the Strategy & Operations Lead, and finally, the Director of Partnerships for the Boston Chapter. In the same year, they also joined the Association for Women in Science as the Community and Engagement Director and later became the Vice President of the Central Massachusetts Chapter. In 2023, they joined MassBio as a MassBioDrive Analyst and also worked as a Consultant for Startups.

Peren Coskun's education history includes a variety of academic achievements and certifications. In 2021, they participated in the I-Corps Program at the UMass Center for Clinical and Translational Science, which focused on entrepreneurial training in the field of biomedical science. In the same year, they also obtained certifications in the ASCB Virtual Biotech Course from the American Society for Cell Biology, as well as in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace from the USF Office of Corporate Training and Professional Education.

Prior to these experiences, Peren attended UMass Chan Medical School from 2015 onwards as a Ph.D. candidate in Biomedical Sciences, although the end year of this program is not specified. Before that, from 2008 to 2012, they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and Bioengineering at Sabanci University. Additionally, they earned a minor degree in Chemistry from the same institution, completing it in 2012.

Peren's commitment to enhancing their academic and professional knowledge is demonstrated by their additional certifications in molecular modeling in drug discovery, obtained from Schrödinger in 2021.
