Wilhelm Platow is an accomplished physicist with extensive experience in ion implantation and detection technologies. Currently serving as a Senior Staff Scientist at Axcelis Technologies since June 2017, Wilhelm specializes in high energy ion implanters with RF linear accelerator beamline physics design. Previous roles include Senior Research Scientist at Morpho Detection, LLC, focusing on prototype development for trace detection of explosives and narcotics through Ion-Mobility Spectrometry, and Senior Beamline Physicist at Advanced Ion Beam Technology, Inc., where beamline development for high current ion implanters was a key responsibility. As Principal Scientist at Varian Semiconductor, Wilhelm developed ion source technologies, and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Brookhaven National Laboratory, expertise in X-ray Absorption Fine Structure was gained. Academic credentials include a PhD in Physics from Freie Universität Berlin and postdoctoral research at North Carolina State University.
