Bert Jacobs

Bert Jacobs has a diverse work experience. Bert currently works as a Self Machine Learning Engineer at AxonJay.ai, a pan-European AI tech company. Prior to this, they were a Drummer and sound designer at Skiska. Bert also worked as a Data Analyst at Vlaanderen connect. and the Departement Mobiliteit en Openbare Werken, where they implemented machine learning for traffic data analysis and gathered data for traffic models. Bert has also had experience in sales, engineering, and project management at Colson CTB. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Scientific Researcher at the Flanders Centre of Postharvest Technology, where they developed technology using machine learning and conducted experiments. Bert also served as the Head of Marketing at Nanosurfs, working on marketing a nanostructure foil for boats and ships.

Bert Jacobs pursued their education chronologically starting from high school at Sint-Jozefscollege Beringen, where they completed their high school education with a focus on sciences and extra mathematics. Following this, from 2006 to 2009, Bert obtained their bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from KU Leuven. Bert then continued their studies and completed their master's degree in Biomolecular Engineering from the same institution between 2009 and 2011. Finally, Bert Jacobs obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemometrics and Multivariate Statistics from KU Leuven, which they pursued from 2012 to 2019.
