Afgan Bakhishov

Afgan Bakhishov has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over many years. Afgan currently holds the role of Director of Legal at Azerbaijan Airlines, a position they have held since 2023. Prior to this, Afgan served as the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer at Unibank from 2021 to 2023. Afgan also held various executive roles at AccessBank Azerbaijan, including Executive Director.

Afgan's experience in the financial industry includes roles at the Financial Market Supervisory Authority, where they served as the Head of the Board of Appeal and the Member of Executive Board/Head of Legal and Enforcement Department from 2017 to 2019. Afgan was also the Head of the Attestation Commission at the Financial Markets Supervisory Authority during the same period.

Earlier in their career, Afgan worked at the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan as the Deputy Director of the Legal Department from 2008 to 2017. Afgan also served as a Senior Legal Advisor at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan from 2003 to 2008.

Afgan Bakhishov began their education in 1997 at Baku State University, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Law in 2001. Afgan then pursued a Master's degree in Constitutional Law at the same institution from 2001 to 2003. A few years later, from 2013 to 2014, Bakhishov attended The University of Manchester, where they earned a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Corporate Governance Law. Their educational journey culminated in a Ph.D. in Constitutional and Municipal Law from the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, which they completed between 2007 and 2018.
