Michael Jennings

Michael Jennings has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Michael started their career as an intern at American Dynamics in 2012, followed by a short internship at the Royal Air Force (RAF) as an ASOp/Air Battle Manager. In 2014, they worked as a crew member at McDonald's Corporation before joining Seven Technologies Group as an intern electronic engineer from 2015 to 2016.

Michael then joined Ulster Society of Student Engineers in 2017 as the Chairperson, where they successfully led the engineering society of Ulster University, Jordanstown Campus. During their tenure, the society grew to have more than 180 members and organized events including formals, induction days, engineering projects, and workshops.

In 2018, they started their research journey at Ulster University as an Engineering PhD Researcher, focusing on heart attack detection via computational techniques. Michael also worked as a Research Associate in Electronic Engineering for a brief period. Currently, Michael is an Algorithm Engineer at B-Secur, where they develop novel electrocardiogram processing algorithms primarily using MATLAB for applications such as wearable wellness devices and medical data.

Michael Jennings pursued their education chronologically starting from 2006 to 2013 at The Wallace High School, where they obtained their GCE A-Level & GCSE. Subsequently, they attended Ulster University from 2013 to 2018 and completed a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Electronic Engineering. In 2017, they briefly studied at Technische Hochschule Augsburg, earning a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Mechatronic Systems. From 2018 to 2021, Michael pursued a PhD at Ulster University in the field of Heart attack detection using ECG via computational techniques. Additionally, they acquired certifications in HTML Essential Training and Programming Foundations: Fundamentals from Lynda.com in August 2018. In August 2012, they also obtained a Full UK Driving License from the Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency.
