Afshan Akhtar

Afshan Akhtar has a strong background in legal counsel and corporate affairs. Afshan is currently serving as the Chief Legal Counsel and Board Secretary for Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), where they advise the Board of Directors and management on various strategic initiatives and policies. Afshan is also responsible for transforming the legal function by building in-house legal capability and utilizing innovative technologies. Prior to this, Afshan served as a Group Counsel for Bank ABC, providing legal advisory services to management across the global network of the bank. Afshan has also held senior positions at Aluminium Bahrain and Clifford Chance, where they gained extensive experience in corporate law and finance. Additionally, Afshan has served as a Board Member for the Middle East and North Africa Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel.

Afshan Akhtar obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree in law from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 1996 to 1999. From 1999 to 2000, they attended The University of Law, London to pursue a Legal Practice Course.
