Marimuthu Swaminathan

Adviser, Animal Breeding & Genetics at BAIF Development Research Foundation

Marimuthu Swaminathan is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in livestock and dairy development. Currently serving as Program Director at BAIF Development Research Foundation since July 2013, Marimuthu leads a team in genomics-based dairy breeding initiatives for smallholder production systems and collaborates with international institutions for advancements in animal health diagnostics. Simultaneously, Marimuthu has been an International Specialist with the FAO and the World Bank since September 2011, providing expertise in a variety of projects across India, Nepal, and the Dominican Republic, and conducting a dairy sector value chain study in Kyrgyzstan. Prior experience includes a role as Senior Manager at the National Dairy Development Board from October 2009 to November 2011. Marimuthu holds a Master’s Degree in Animal Breeding & Genomics from Wageningen University & Research and a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine from Tamilnadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, along with additional training in relevant fields.
