John Kelly

Head of People at balena

John Kelly is the current Head of People at Balena, and has previously worked as a Compensation and Performance Manager at Ginger and a Compensation and HR Analytics Manager at Symphony.com.

Kelly has extensive experience in building organization design, compensation structure, and data models. At Symphony, they led the compensation practice team and rebuilt the entire incentive strategy (fixed and variable), redesigned how the company used Radford market data as a foundation of pay, and supported the implementation of a new HRIS system (SyncHR).

At Balena, Kelly is responsible for leading a team that focuses on building organization design, compensation structure, and data models to make sure the company pays equitably and uses its resources effectively to achieve its strategic vision.

John Kelly has a Master of Science in Human Capital Analytics and Technology from New York University, as well as a certification in Global Affairs from the same school. John also has a Bachelor's degree in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's The Lally School of Management and Technology.

They are on a team with Carlo Maria Curinga - Director of Technology Operations (Europe), Alison Davis Riddell - COO, and Michael Wilks - Director of Finance. John Kelly reports to Alexandros Marinos, Founder & CEO.
