David Spearman, MPP has a long and varied work experience. David began their career in 2008 as the Co-Director and Organizational Fundraiser for the Alternative Spring Break at the University of Illinois. From 2010 to 2011, they worked as the Alumni Outreach Coordinator for the YMCA of the University of Illinois. In 2011, they were a Consulting Analyst to BP for Superior Services Consulting, Inc. From 2013 to 2014, they worked as a President's Fellow for the Cook County President's Office, an Executive Editor for the Chicago Policy Review, and a Teaching Assistant for the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago. In 2014, they were a Research Associate for the University of Chicago Crime Lab. From 2015 to 2019, they worked as a Data Director and Senior Director of Data Strategy at BallotReady. As a Data Director, they were on a mission to help voters across the US exercise their right to vote and vote informed on every race and measure on their ballot. As Senior Director of Data Strategy, they led a dedicated strike force to develop internal and external technical products to meet the unique needs of customers, increase data collection efficiency, ensure exceptional data quality, and design data structures for long term sustainability. Additionally, they have worked as a Data and Research Consultant since 2015, crafting solutions for non-profits and small businesses using diverse research methods, data analysis, and visualizations.
David Spearman, MPP, obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2010. David then went on to pursue a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago, which they completed in 2014. In 2015, they obtained an Advanced (Estimated) Duolingo Spanish Fluency certification from Duolingo.
