Michael Rhode

Michael Rhode is a highly experienced researcher in the field of welding and materials engineering, currently serving as a Wissenschaftler Mitarbeiter and Arbeitsgruppenleiter at the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung since August 2016. From January 2018 to April 2024, Michael held the position of Junior Professor focusing on the welding of heat-resistant steels at Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg and BAM Berlin. Michael's research expertise encompasses welded components of heat and creep-resistant steels, hydrogen assisted cracking, and corrosion effects on welded integrity. Michael has a solid background in conducting international collaborative research projects, including doctoral work at BAM and earlier roles at Technical University of Berlin and Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung GmbH. Michael holds a Dr.-Ing. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg and a Graduate Engineer degree in Manufacturing Technology and Welding Technology from the same institution.
