Carmel Freeman

Carmel Freeman is an experienced professional in operational risk and data governance, currently serving as SVP Operational Risk Data Manager at Banc of California since September 2024. Previously, Carmel held the position of Director and Sr. Data Governance Lead at MUFG from 2018 to September 2024, where responsibilities included developing policy and governance strategies aligned with executive management and regulatory expectations. Prior to this, Carmel was Vice President, Enterprise Data Steward at Union Bank from 2010 to 2018, focusing on monitoring and maintaining key data across the enterprise in various areas, including credit data and business process analysis. Carmel's career at Union Bank also included roles such as Quality Control & Data Integrity Manager and Small Business Portfolio Renewal Manager. Carmel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Industry from the University of Southern California, earned between 1998 and 2002.
