Raphael Auer

Raphael Auer currently serves as the Head of the BIS Innovation Hub Eurosystem Centre at the Bank for International Settlements since December 2015, focusing on technology trends and improving the global financial system. Auer has held prominent roles including Principal Economist in innovation and digital economy, as well as senior economist in the monetary policy unit, contributing to various publications and speeches. In addition, Raphael Auer is the President of the Central Bank Research Association, promoting research relevant to financial institutions. Previous experience includes roles at ETH Zurich, the Swiss National Bank, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Auer holds a PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MA in International Economics from Maastricht University.
