SVP & Head Of Financial Control at FAB

Hani S. has a diverse and extensive work experience in the finance industry. Starting in 2009, Hani worked at the Bank of Canada as a Senior Analyst in the Financial Stability Department, where they conducted analytical and research projects on Canadian financial institutions. They also served as a Research Assistant, collecting and manipulating data for financial research projects.

In 2013, Hani joined the National Bank of Abu Dhabi as a Director in Basel Regulatory Reporting, where they prepared regulatory capital reports in accordance with Basel Guidelines. They also advised and led inter-departmental regulatory capital optimization initiatives.

Hani then moved to First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) in 2017, initially working as a VP in Capital Management, where they managed the bank's capital within regulatory and risk appetite limits. They also led regulatory capital optimization projects and Basel III/IV implementation.

Later at FAB, Hani took on the role of Acting Country CFO, followed by being a VP and Head of Transformation in Group Finance, where they drove the implementation of transformation initiatives and led the strategic integration of Egypt entities. Currently, Hani holds the position of SVP and Head of Financial Control at FAB, overseeing the Group Financial Control function and leading governance-related activities of Group Finance. They also support the Chief of Staff of the Group CFO in various initiatives and organizational events.

Furthermore, Hani had previous experience as a Research Assistant and Teacher Assistant at HEC Montréal, and also completed a financial modeling and valuation training program at the Investment Banking Institute.

Hani S. passed the CFA Level III exam in June 2018 from the CFA Institute. Prior to that, from 2006 to 2008, Hani obtained a Master of Science degree in Applied Financial Economics from HEC Montréal. In the years 2003 to 2005, Hani completed a B.B.A degree in Economics and International Business also from HEC Montréal. Additionally, from 2001 to 2003, Hani pursued a Minor in Computer Science at the Lebanese American University.
