Kunal Taneja

Kunal Taneja is the Co-Founder and CTO at Baraka. Kunal was previously the CTO - FinTech Business at FinzoDigital from January 2017 to June 2020. There, they initiated, executed and managed the product development life cycle of bwallet (One of the fastest growing mobile wallet in the Region trusted by over 100,000 people). Kunal also facilitated client process teams in building Software Process Improvement Program.

Kunal enabled the organization to move its FinTech based services (Digital Wallet, NFC payments, e-remittance) on cloud using AWS environment while being compliant with Regulatory mandates. Kunal event managed the 1st MEA FinTech Conference held in Bahrain in 2017, organized by Bank ABC & AFS, under the patronage of Central Bank of Bahrain. Kunal also architected and led the technology transformation and integration for AFS legacy processes.

Kunal has provided strategic direction for the design, development, support of IT systems and programs that fulfil the needs of the business, including architecture, platform, applications management, security & risk management. Kunal has acted as a trusted advisor and established active relationships with CXO and BU leaders. Kunal has partnered with the business leadership team to drive culture change in support of digital business. Kunal has also deployed and managed cloud infrastructure on AWS for FinTech services such as mobile wallets, QR & NFC payments.

Kunal Taneja attended Y Combinator for a diploma in international compliance. Kunal then studied regulatory and scheme compliance at The University of Manchester before earning their MSc in computer science from Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies. Kunal concluded their educational career with a BSc in information technology from Manipal Institute of Technology. In addition to their formal education, Kunal Taneja has also earned certification from Microsoft, ISACA, Amazon Web Services (AWS), the PCI Security Standards Council, and Dell SonicWALL.
