Hailing from the faraway land of Texas, Josh began his specialty coffee journey in 2009 when he attempted to convince his then bandmates that freshly ground coffee truly was better than pre-ground…by grinding coffee using a whirly blade “coffee grinder.” After they told him they didn’t think it tasted any different, weeks later those same bandmates confessed that they had been kidding and asked him to make them another cup. After his band days were over, he managed a local coffee shop then designed and developed the business plan for a new shop, all before he and his wife moved to the Northwest in 2017 to further pursue their dreams. He spent four wonderful years at Narrative Coffee and competed for two years in the US Brewer’s Cup Competition circuits and various other local coffee events. Now, Josh is continuing his passion in coffee with Baratza by servicing and repairing grinders. When he’s not fixing grinders, he enjoys all the outdoor benefits of living in the Northwest, as well as smoking meats and fixing his 30-year-old Landcruiser.
