Artem Harutyunyan is a highly experienced software developer and engineering leader. Artem began their career in 2004 at CERN as a Senior Fellow (Software group), where they were the architect and lead developer of CernVM Co-Pilot. Artem also served as a Software Developer (ALICE experiment computing group), where they developed a banking system for economy based job scheduling and resource sharing in AliEn Grid infrastructure, an authentication and authorization system for the large scale distributed computing infrastructure of ALICE experiment, and a port of AliEn Grid infrastructure client to Microsoft Windows. In 2008, they were selected to participate in Google Summer of Code 2008 Program with The Globus Alliance (University of Chicago), where they initiated and successfully accomplished the development of a framework for dynamic integration of Nimbus cloud computing resources with the distributed Grid computing infrastructure of CERN ALICE experiment. In 2011, they served as a Google Summer of Code Mentor and Organisation Administrator, where they elaborated a successful proposal on behalf of CernVM and CERN SFT projects to participate in the Google Summer of Code 2011 and 2012 programs, and mentored a student who successfully accomplished a task of the development of a web based monitoring system for CernVM Co-Pilot distributed computing framework. In 2012, they joined Qualys as an Engineering Director, Distributed Computing, where they built a team that designed and developed a fault-tolerant, distributed system for collecting, storing and processing petabytes of data in near real-time, and developed a decentralized, fault-tolerant, multi-attribute task scheduler used for parallelizing application workload on a cluster. In 2015, they joined Mesosphere as a Senior Director, Product and Engineering, where they lead product and engineering teams working on developing frameworks and applications on top of Kubernetes, including KUDO (http://kudo. dev), Dispatch (CI/CD), and Kudo for Kubeflow (ML platform). Most recently, in 2020, they co-founded Bardeen Inc. as the CTO.
Artem Harutyunyan is currently enrolled in Stanford University Graduate School of Business, pursuing a SEP '22 degree. Artem also holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Graduate School of State Engineering University of Armenia and Yerevan Physics Institute. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Automata from Stanford University (through Coursera Inc.) in January 2014.
