Matt Peterson

Ideas Editor at Barron's

Matt Peterson is the Ideas Editor at Barron's. Prior to this, they were the Senior Editor at The Atlantic, where they created the magazine's first digital subscription, The Masthead. Matt also ran a team of journalists who experimented with ways to bring readers closer to the newsroom, and wrote about global politics and economics every day.

Before their time at The Atlantic, Peterson was the Chief of Staff at Eurasia Group, where they ran the 11-person executive team for Ian Bremmer, the firm's founder. The newsletters and video series they started became the basis for the spinoff company G-Zero Media. Matt also set up an independent nonprofit, the Eurasia Group Foundation.

Previously, Peterson was the Managing Editor at World Politics Review, where they edited and assigned feature coverage of global politics. Matt interviewed experts and practitioners for their daily coverage, and ran the New York office.

Peterson has also served as the Chief Financial Officer at Incentives for Global Health and as a Research Associate at MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University.

Matt Peterson has a Master of Science in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Philosophy from Tufts University. Matt also spent a year as a visiting student at the University of Oxford, studying Politics, Philosophy, and Economics.

Matt Peterson reports to David Cho, Editor in Chief. They are on a team with Bob Rose - Executive Editor, Lawrence C. Strauss - Senior Writer, and Phil Roosevelt - Editorial Director, Magazine.
