James Larsen

James Larsen is an accomplished professional in the energy sector, currently serving as an Operating Partner at Basalt Infrastructure Partners, where involvement includes M&A diligence and asset oversight, alongside aiding in the acquisition of AEP’s OnSite Partners. Larsen also holds a Board Member position at OnSite Partners, facilitating initiatives in distributed energy solutions. Previously, Larsen was the President and CEO of Upper Peninsula Power Company from 2017 to 2023, overseeing its transition to independence and the execution of its sale. As President of SEMCO ENERGY from 1999 to 2016, leadership included guiding the company through its sale from private equity to public status and contributing to the establishment of New Mexico Gas Company. Early career experience includes roles at Lockheed Martin and GE Power, with a foundation in nuclear engineering from training at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command and degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration from Clarkson University and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, respectively.
