Michael Piel

Michael Piel is currently serving as a US History Subject Expert Teacher at BASIS Independent Schools since July 2023. With extensive experience in education, Piel has previously taught 5th grade at A. Fantis School and held the position of Humanities Subject Expert Teacher at BASIS Independent Schools from March 2017 to August 2022, specializing in reading, writing, and history. Additionally, Piel has worked as a Creative Writing Instructor at Writopia Lab, guiding students in various writing forms, and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder. Piel, a freelance writer since 2014, has published short stories, sold screenplays, and had a play performed, while also currently working on a novel. Piel holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film & TV from New York University and a Master's Degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Colorado Boulder.
