Ms. Iris Anderson is the chief financial officer at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) with 29 years of experience in finance and accounting. As the CFO and Director of Business Management at INL, she is responsible for the development and implementation of the laboratory’s financial strategy and planning. The CFO facilitates the linkage of the laboratory’s strategic objectives with institutional financial strategies and measurable goals.
Before joining INL, Ms. Anderson served as the controller and manager of Financial Operations at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). In this position, she was responsible for the management and oversight of PNNL’s accounting systems and financial services, including the asset management function. She also served on PNNL’s Research Operations Council (ROC), as a member of the Brookhaven Laboratory Business & Audit Committee, and on the Battelle Pension Management Investment Committee.
In her previous positions at PNNL, she managed the Business Development & Analysis group where she provided financial and business analysis support to the PNNL executive management team. She directed the laboratory-wide budgeting process, supported management in making informed business decisions, and was a catalyst for the achievement of PNNL financial goals. This role included responsibility for the management of Budget Execution and Formulation processes related to DOE work as well as coordination of all private industry sales and work for other Hanford contractors.
Ms. Anderson also held the position of directorate business manager of the Fundamental Sciences Directorate and the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory, accountable for the strategic development, financial management, administration and management of business services.
Prior to PNNL, she held financial positions for US West NewVector Group and US Bank.
Ms. Anderson served on the Board of Directors of Gesa Credit Union. Gesa is a Washington state-based credit union with over $3.1 billion in assets.
She was awarded the ATHENA Leadership Award by the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce. The ATHENA International Award honors women for professional excellence, community service, and leadership skills; and for actively assisting other women in attaining professional excellence.
She holds a B.A. in finance from the University of Washington.
