Nick Bergman has a diverse work experience in the field of biodefense and analysis. Nick currently holds the position of Laboratory Director at the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center and is also serving as the President of Battelle National Biodefense Institute, LLC. Prior to these roles, they served as the Director of the National Bioforensic Analysis Center and the Associate Laboratory Director at the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center. Nick has also worked as a Senior Principal Investigator and Department Head at the Battelle National Biodefense Institute. Before their roles in biodefense, they held positions as an Assistant Professor of Biology at the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Senior Research Scientist at the Georgia Tech Research Institute. Nick began their career as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Medical School.

Nick Bergman earned their Bachelor of Science degree (High Honors) in Microbiology from the University of Michigan between 1991 and 1995. Nick went on to pursue a PhD in Biology (Biochemistry) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1995 to 2001. In 2018, they completed an Executive Education Short Course titled "Building More Effective Teams" at Harvard Business School. Then, in 2020, they attended The Wharton School-Executive Education for a finance program called "Finance for non-Finance Managers."
