María del Carmen Durán

Principal Air Quality Chemist at Bay Area Air Quality Management District

María del Carmen Durán has extensive work experience in the field of air quality chemistry. María del Carmen has been working at the Bay Area Air Quality Management District since 2013, first as an Air Quality Chemist and currently as the Principal Air Quality Chemist. In their role, they are responsible for managing quality assurance documents and coordinating QA tasks. Prior to that, María worked at Environmental Analytical Service, Inc as a Laboratory Technician, where they conducted environmental air testing and analysis using various instruments. Additionally, they have experience as a Pre-Credential Student Assistant at the Department of Education, Cal Poly, and as a Research Assistant at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Cal Poly, where they worked on various projects related to organic chemistry experiments.

María del Carmen Durán obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biochemistry at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo from 2007 to 2012. María del Carmen further pursued their education and earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Environmental Management from the University of San Francisco between 2015 and 2017. Prior to their undergraduate studies, they attended Capuchino High School from 2003 to 2007.
