Head Of School And Community Programs at Bay Area Discovery Museum

Brittin Romero has a diverse range of work experience in the field of education and public engagement. Brittin is currently serving as the Head of School and Community Programs at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. Prior to this, they were the Education and Public Engagement Manager at the San Diego Museum of Man, where they oversaw all education programs and initiatives, coordinated public programs, and led the development of new offerings.

Brittin also worked as the Learning Initiatives Program Manager at the Oakland Museum of California, managing multiple interdisciplinary school programs and training volunteer guides. Brittin served as the Education Manager at Project Wildlife, where they standardized education policies and procedures and coordinated education programs.

Brittin gained experience as an Assistant Ethnology Collections Manager at the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, wrote catalog and condition reports, and conducted research on incoming objects. Additionally, they worked as an Education Intern at the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) and the California Academy of Sciences, where they co-taught various school programs and developed lesson plans.

Furthermore, Brittin has experience as a Nanny, providing daily care and participating in educational and developmental opportunities with the child. Brittin also worked as a Discovery Guide at the Bay Area Discovery Museum and served as a Literacy AmeriCorps Member with Read/San Diego, leading family literacy programs and managing book clubs.

Brittin Romero holds a Master's degree in Museology, which was obtained from the University of Washington in 2012. Prior to this, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Anthropology at the University of Chicago in 2006. In addition to their formal education, they have also obtained certifications in various fields. Brittin completed the program on Leadership, Storytelling, and Action from Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education in December 2020 and became a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation in October 2013.
