Elaine Wai

Dr. Elaine Wai is the senior executive director of medical affairs and quality. Dr. Wai is responsible for the overall strategic leadership of BC Cancer's medical affairs and quality portfolios. She is accountable for overseeing medical staff compliance with established regulations, and ensures appropriate clinical quality assurance, quality improvement, risk management, and patient safety strategies are in place.

Prior to this role, Dr. Wai was a radiation oncologist at BC Cancer - Victoria and head of the Department of Radiation Oncology in Victoria. She is a clinical professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Wai completed medical school and residency in radiation oncology at UBC, followed by fellowship training in health services research at the Radiation Oncology Research Unit, Kingston Regional Cancer Centre/Queen's University, while earning a Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology from Harvard University.
