Peter Dalton has a diverse work experience, starting in 1976 as an Engineer at National Defence. Peter then became a Regional Public Affairs officer, providing media training and support for special projects. In 1997, they worked as a Marketing Manager at Custom House Currency Exchange, handling the national marketing budget and creating risk management services. From 1999 to 2011, they served as a Senior Public Affairs Officer for the BC Government, managing key issues and files, and responding to natural disasters. Peter then worked as the Chief Engineer at City Centre Park until 2014. Currently, since 2014, they are serving as the Director of Security and Emergency Management at BC Energy Regulator.
Peter Dalton completed an Emergency Management Certificate program at the Justice Institute of British Columbia from 2013 to 2016. Peter earned a BA (Hons) degree in Strategic Studies with a minor in psychology from RRMC between 1988 and 1992. In 1997 to 1999, they pursued a Certificate program in Public Relations at the University of Victoria. Peter also studied Psychology and Computer Science at Saint Mary's University from 1986 to 1988. Currently, they are enrolled in the ICS Canada Train the Trainer program at ICS Canada, starting in 2022. In 2023, they attended the CAMEO Suite Training, LLC for Hazard Management / GIS.
