Flor Puentes

Flor Puentes has a diverse work experience in the field of epidemiology. Flor has held various roles in multiple organizations, showcasing their expertise and knowledge in public health. Most recently, they served as the Epidemiologist Director at BCFS Health & Human Services starting in July 2022. Before that, they worked as the Lead Epidemiologist at The City of El Paso Texas from October 2021 to July 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Epidemiologist at the CITY OF EL PASO DEPT OF PUBLIC HEALTH from June 2019 to December 2020. Flor also worked as an Epidemiologist CNI at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and as a Public Health Epidemiologist at Chickasaw Nation Industries, Inc. from April 2017 to June 2019. Flor Puentes has also contributed to research and academic institutions such as Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Texas Tech University, where they held various research and directorial positions from 2013 to 2017. Flor started their career as an EWIDS (Early Warning Infectious Disease Surveillance) Program Specialist at the Texas Department of State Health Services from February 2008 to August 2010. Flor Puentes began their professional journey as the HEART Project Coordinator at The University of Texas at El Paso from August 2006 to January 2008. With their vast experience, Flor Puentes is equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the field of epidemiology.

Flor Puentes earned their Bachelor of Science in Health Science, with a minor in Psychology, from The University of Texas at El Paso. Flor then went on to further their education at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston), where they obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Epidemiology.
