Johan Winquist

Johan Winquist has a diverse work experience in the biochemistry and pharmaceutical industry. Johan started their career as a Bioinformatician at Uppsala University, where they worked on predicting suitable drug treatments for cancer patients and analyzing microarray data. Johan then transitioned to a PhD student position at the same institution, focusing on reducing attrition in pre-clinical drug discovery through SPR-biosensor aided interaction studies. Following their PhD, Johan worked as a Researcher at Uppsala University, specializing in enzyme production and interaction analysis.

Afterwards, Johan joined Philipps-Universität Marburg as a Post Doc, where they conducted research in X-ray crystallography, ITC, and SPR. Johan then moved to Karo Bio AB as a Research Scientist before joining Semcon as a Technical Writer, where they worked on writing technical documentation for the life science and medical technology industry.

In 2014, Johan joined GE Healthcare as a Scientific Support Specialist for Hardware, providing technical support in the healthcare industry. More recently, they joined Beactica Therapeutics, first as a Research Scientist, where they conducted early exploratory fragment-based drug discovery projects, and later as a Project Manager, responsible for customer research collaboration projects, business development, and wet-lab execution. Johan currently holds the position of Head of Operations at Beactica Therapeutics.

Johan Winquist has a diverse education history spanning multiple fields and institutions. Johan began their academic journey in 1999 at SLU - Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, where they pursued a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology. This program continued until 2006. Following this, Winquist enrolled at Uppsala University in 2002 and completed their Master's degree in Molecular Biotechnology Engineering by 2007.
