Matthew Berk has been working in the technology industry since 1996. Matthew began their career as VP Technology at Inc.com, followed by a role as CTO at Edu.com. In 2001, they became Research Director at Jupiter Research. In 2003, they founded and served as CTO of Open List, Inc. where they worked on local and vertical search applications. From 2006 to 2012, they worked at Marchex as EVP, Product Engineering and VP, Search, and Lead Search Architect. During this time they ran a 110-person engineering team, directed a Labs/Innovation team, filed patents, built new products, prototypes, and systems, and conducted technical aspects of acquisitions. From 2012 to 2014, they were CEO and CTO of Lucky Oyster, Inc., where they focused on search, data mining, and mobile product development. Since 2014, they have been CEO of Bean Box.
Matthew Berk began their educational journey at The Lawrenceville School from 1984 to 1988. Matthew then went on to pursue a BA in English and Comparative Literature from Cornell University from 1988 to 1992. Following that, they attended The Johns Hopkins University from 1993 to 1996, where they obtained a MA in Early Modern English Literature as well as a Master's degree in English Literature (British and Commonwealth).
