Andrew Thompson

Andrew Thompson has a diverse work experience that spans over two decades. Andrew currently works as a Music Teacher at Beaverton School District since August 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Mathematics Teacher at the same district starting from August 2019.

Andrew has extensive experience as a freelance musician and private lesson instructor, where they have been working professionally as a trombonist since August 2001. Andrew is skilled in playing various genres of music including classical, jazz, Latin, and pop. Andrew also provides private trombone lessons.

Before joining Beaverton School District, Andrew worked at Fenwick High School from July 2011 to August 2019 as a Music & Math Teacher. Andrew'sresponsibilities included teaching Algebra 1, Fine Arts (General Music), Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Beginning Band. Andrew also directed the pep band and introduced a for-credit Jazz Band class for the first time in the school's history.

In addition, Andrew has worked as a Music Teacher at Tucson Unified School District from July 2007 to June 2009. Prior to that, they worked as a Trombonist at Spirit Productions from September 2006 to April 2007 and as a Musical Director and Trombonist at Carnival Cruise Lines from January 2006 to June 2006.

Andrew's work experience demonstrates their expertise as a music educator and trombonist, and their ability to adapt to different teaching environments and musical styles.

Andrew Thompson earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Arizona in 2005, with a focus on Music Education and Trombone Performance. Andrew continued their education at DePaul University from 2009 to 2011, where they obtained a Master of Music degree in Jazz/Jazz Studies. In 2013, Andrew enrolled at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, completing a Middle School Mathematics Endorsement program from 2013 to 2015. Andrew also holds teaching certifications from the State of Oregon, obtained in December 2015, and from the State of Illinois, obtained in May 2011.
