Kevin Mathews-Garza

Kevin Mathews-Garza has diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Kevin began their career in 2016 as the Founder/CEO of Coach Kevin- Shooting & Skill Development and also worked as a Private Basketball Shooting & Skill Instructor at CoachUp. In 2017, they took on the role of a Sports Writer at Buzzer Beater Blog and served as a Market Research Analyst at Production Plus. Kevin also worked as a Northwest Regional Basketball Scout at Sports Management Worldwide. From 2017 to 2021, Kevin worked at ViaWest as a Front Desk Agent. In 2021, they joined Beaverton School District as a Teacher. Kevin has also served as the Head Coach at Westview High School from November 2021 to March 2022. In April 2022, Kevin became an Umpire at NORTHWEST YOUTH BASEBALL UMPIRES ASSOCIATION. Currently, they are serving as the Head Coach at Sunset High School.

Kevin Mathews-Garza began their education at Hillsboro High School, where they obtained a diploma in Communication and Media Studies in 2016. In the same year, they also pursued a Bachelor's degree in Sport and Fitness Administration/Management at Sports Management Worldwide.

In 2016, Kevin enrolled at Portland Community College, where they earned an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Sport and Fitness Administration/Management in 2018. Kevin then continued their education at Portland State University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Applied Health & Fitness in 2020. Following this, Kevin pursued a Master of Education (MEd) degree at Portland State University, which they are expected to complete in 2021.

Alongside their academic pursuits, Kevin has obtained various certifications. Kevin obtained their First Aid and CPR Certification from the American Red Cross in October 2016. In the same month, they also obtained certifications as a Certified Interscholastic Basketball Coach and a Certified Unified Coach from The NFHS Network. In November 2016, Kevin earned the certifications of Certified Basketball Coach from the Positive Coaching Alliance and a Certified High School Basketball Coach from the National High School Coaches Association. In April 2017, they obtained a DPSST certification from the PUBLIC SAFETY STANDARDS & TRAINING, DEPARTMENT OF.
