Eric Abis

Eric Abis has a comprehensive work experience in various data engineering and analytics roles. Eric started their career as a Structure and Pricing Analyst at Direct Energy Business Services in 2006, where they managed deal flow and pricing data. Eric then moved to Hess Corporation in 2007 as an Electricity Load Forecast Analyst, where they developed applications and machine learning models for power demand prediction. From 2009 to 2011, Eric worked at Getty Images as a Pricing Manager, maintaining the online price book and providing sales analysis. Eric then joined TravelClick as a Senior Manager of Pricing, Business Intelligence, and SQL Data Warehousing, where they managed pricing exercises and supported strategic initiatives. In 2014, Eric joined Intent Media Inc. as a Data Engineer and later became a Senior Big Data Analyst, performing analytics and reporting. Eric continued their data engineering career at LearnVest in 2016, developing Spark streaming applications and contributing to serverless event processing. Eric then joined Shutterstock as a Data Engineer, before becoming the Head of Data and Infrastructure Engineering at beehiiv in 2023. Throughout their career, Eric has gained expertise in technologies such as Kubernetes, Kafka, Spark, Python, SQL, and data pipelining.

Eric Abis obtained their bachelor's degree in Economics, Natural Resources, and Environmental Economics from Cornell University between 2001 and 2005. Eric also has additional certifications in various computer science topics from Coursera Course Certificates, including "Graph Search, Shortest Paths, and Data Structures," "Divide and Conquer, Sorting and Searching, and Randomized Algorithms," and "Algorithms: Design and Analysis, Part 2."
