Shomari Jones has a diverse range of work experience in the education and nonprofit sectors. Shomari began their career as the State GEAR UP Project Coordinator at the University of Washington, where they focused on fostering college readiness for low-income students. Shomari then worked as the HERO Program Coordinator at the College Success Foundation, aiming to increase college readiness for underrepresented youth. Following this, Jones served as the Sr. Director of the Black Achievers Program at the YMCA, providing career exploration and college preparation opportunities for high school students. Shomari then moved on to the position of Chief Operating Officer at the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, where they oversaw day-to-day operations and supported organizational growth and development. Currently, Jones is the Director of Equity and Strategic Engagement at the Bellevue School District, where they lead efforts to eliminate racial disparities and achieve system-wide equity and excellence in education. Overall, Shomari Jones has dedicated their career to supporting educational equity and promoting college readiness for underrepresented students.
Shomari Jones completed a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Tuskegee University from 1992 to 1997. Later, in 2009-2010, they obtained a Graduate degree in Servant Leadership from Leadership Tomorrow.
