Brooke Barrett has worked in various roles since 2006. Brooke began as a Litigation Paralegal at Gibbons P.C. in 2006 and then became an Obama Organizing Fellow for Obama for America in 2008. In 2008, they were also a Fellow for Leadership Newark Inc. and an Adjunct Professor of English at Essex County College. In 2009, they became Director of Grants and Strategic Development for United Way of Essex and West Hudson and a Board Member for Stop Shootin', Inc. In the same year, they were also a Selector for TNTP. In 2020, they became an Angel Investor and Founder and President of BenchK12, a talent empowerment platform designed for the unique needs of K12 education.
Brooke Barrett completed their Dual Bachelor Degree from Scripps College in Politics/International Relations and Media Studies in 2003. Brooke then attended Loyola Marymount University and obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Secondary Education in 2005, as well as a CA Teaching Credential in Secondary English Language Arts. In the same year, they also obtained a JD from Seton Hall University School of Law. Lastly, they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) in Urban Policy and Management from The New School in 2009.
