Fred Baumgarten

Fred Baumgarten is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in grant management and institutional relations. Currently serving as the Director of Institutional and Academic Grants at Bennington College since September 2024, Fred has previously held key positions such as Executive Director of the Grants Office and Director of Foundation Relations and Sponsored Research at Mount Holyoke College. Fred's leadership roles extend to the Music Mountain Summer Festival as Treasurer of the Board of Directors since November 2014, and contributions as a freelance writer for Lakeville Journal LLC from 2003 to September 2022. Prior experience includes positions at Sarah Lawrence College, Bard College, and the National Audubon Society, where Fred focused on foundation and corporate relations. Educationally, Fred holds an M.S. in Education from Bank Street College of Education and an AB in Art History from Brown University.
