Bill Spaulding, AIA has a diverse range of work experience in the field of architecture. Bill began their career as an Architectural Drafter at Griswold Heckel and Kelly from 1990 to 1995. From 1995 to 1997, they worked as a Job Captain at Bergmeyer, where they gained experience in creating retail environments for various clients. During this time, they also developed skills in increasing efficiency for retail projects through the use of custom AutoCAD menus and content libraries.
In 1997, Bill founded their own architectural firm, Summer Street Design, where they served as the Architect and Owner until 2001. Bill then joined Joseph Kennard Architects as an Architect, focusing on residential design and custom millwork. Here, they collaborated with a team of architects on urban renovations and suburban residences. Bill's tenure at Joseph Kennard Architects lasted until 2004.
From 2005 to 2007, Bill served as an Adjunct Professor of Architecture at Wentworth Institute of Technology, where they facilitated classes and delivered specialty courses on construction documents and digital technology. In 2005, they also joined Bergmeyer Associates as the Digital Tools Manager, a role in which they identified process gaps, implemented tools to bridge those gaps, and provided training. In 2010, they transitioned to the role of Senior Architect at Bergmeyer Associates, where they worked on projects for clients such as Peet's Coffee & Tea, TD Bank, Talbots, and Virgin Atlantic.
In 2008, Bill began their role as an Adjunct Professor of Interior Architecture & Design at Suffolk University, where they facilitated classes for Master Interior Architecture candidates and assisted them in finding their voice and preparing for their careers. Bill continued in this role until 2023, with no classes scheduled in 2021 and 2022.
Most recently, Bill has been working at Bergmeyer Associates as the Director of Education since 2015. In this role, they are responsible for increasing the level of knowledge across all aspects of the firm's services. Bill also continues to contribute their expertise as a Senior Associate and Shareholder. Throughout their career, Bill has demonstrated a passion for education, innovation, and creativity in the field of architecture.
Bill Spaulding, AIA has a diverse education history that includes a Master of Education (M.Ed) in Instructional Design from UMass Boston, obtained between 2004 and 2007. Prior to that, from 1988 to 1993, they completed their Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) at Wentworth Institute of Technology. Additionally, from 2000 to 2017, Bill earned a Level III Certification from the American Association of Snowboard Instructors in the field of Snowboard Coach & Trainer.
