Heather Shappell

Heather L. Shappell is a seasoned professional in the fields of genetic counseling and healthcare policy, currently serving as the Director of Policy Development, Market Access at BillionToOne since July 2023. With extensive experience, Heather holds a position as an invited member of the CMS Advisory Panel on Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory Tests since March 2019, advising on payment rates and coverage processes for diagnostic laboratory tests. Heather is also the Founder and CEO of InformedDNA, and has previously consulted for various organizations, including Concert Genetics and Aetna, where strategic direction in utilization management and clinical policy was provided. Heather's leadership roles include serving as Vice President of Clinical Integrity and Innovation at BeaconLBS and a Director-At-Large on the Board of Directors for the National Society of Genetic Counselors. With a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Temple University, Heather brings a robust clinical and business acumen to the healthcare sector.
