Gordian Adam has a diverse range of work experience in the field of biomedical research. Gordian began their career as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Tuebingen, where they mentored students during biochemical lab courses. Gordian then worked as a Diploma Student at the University Women's Hospital Tuebingen, conducting research on tumor progression for their thesis.
Gordian later joined the DKFZ (German Cancer Research Center) as a PhD student, focusing on the regulation of angiogenesis through the Notch pathway. Gordian successfully identified and characterized several proteins that influence developmental and tumor angiogenesis. After completing their PhD, they continued their research as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the DKFZ, exploring the regulation of angiogenesis and the establishment and maintenance of the blood-brain barrier.
Working with Bayer HealthCare and DKFZ, Gordian served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, collaborating on the identification of new drug targets and the development of new treatment options for human cancer. Gordian then joined Immunocore Limited as a Senior Scientist, contributing to the identification of disease-specific peptides for cancer immunotherapy.
Gordian's next role was at Metanomics Health as a Scientist in Biomarker Project Management and Data Interpretation. Here, they focused on interpreting metabolomics data to develop new diagnostic metabolic biomarkers and identify potential drug targets.
Most recently, Gordian worked at Biocrates Life Sciences AG as a Senior Scientist and Team Lead for Data Interpretation. In this role, they led a team focused on reporting metabolomics data to pharmaceutical and biotech industry partners and academic research institutes. Gordian also played a key role in managing and leading strategic projects to develop new kit products and software-based services.
Throughout their career, Gordian has demonstrated expertise in data analysis, interpretation, and the application of biochemical and biomedical knowledge to provide meaningful insights and support medical research and drug development processes.
Gordian Adam's education history begins in 1993 when they attended Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium Lüdenscheid, where they obtained their Abitur degree in an unspecified field of study in 2002. From 2002 to 2008, they pursued their studies at the University of Tübingen, earning a Diplom degree in Biochemistry. In 2006, they briefly studied Chemistry at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, though no degree was obtained. Gordian then proceeded to Heidelberg University, where they completed a Research Doctorate in Biosciences from 2008 to 2012.
Gordian Adam also obtained several additional certifications during their educational journey. In October 2010, they received FELASA B certification in Laboratory Animal Science and Methods of Animal Experimentation from Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg. In July 2011, they obtained the European Business Competence* Licence (Level A) from Kuratorium Wirtschaftskompetenz für Europa e.V. Lastly, they acquired a Basic Certificate in Project Management (GPM - ISO/IEC EN 17024) from GPM Deutsche Gesellschaft für Projektmanagement in October 2011.
