Marissa A. Jones, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning multiple fields.

Starting in 2015, they worked as a Steven's Fellow at the University of Missouri, conducting research in organic and inorganic chemistry. Their focus was on targeted drug delivery, specifically creating a linker to connect a potent cancer drug to cancer-associated targeting vectors.

In 2016, Marissa joined Stockton R1 High School as a Student Teacher/Long Term Substitute for a brief period.

Also in 2016, they began their journey at Vanderbilt University Mass Spectrometry Research Center. Marissa A. served as a Graduate Research Fellow, where they developed and applied a multimodal imaging method using transgenic fluorophore data mining. Marissa A. also discovered germinal center lipids and their role in germinal center function and formation. Additionally, they investigated the effect of fixation, freezing, and embedding on the global lipidome. During their time at Vanderbilt, they also served as a Teaching Assistant.

In 2013, Marissa worked at Southwest Baptist University in various roles. Marissa A. was a Physics Lab Teaching Assistant and Physics Tutor from 2013 to 2015. In 2014, they were a Summer Student Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Fellow, where they developed trigonometry-based physics experiments for university undergraduates and analyzed projectile motion and free-fall motion using LabVIEW and a high-speed USB digital camera. Additionally, they served as a Chemistry Tutor and Lab Assistant in 2014.

Currently, Marissa is working at biocrates life sciences ag as a Business Development Manager since 2021.

Marissa A. Jones, PhD, pursued their education in the field of Chemistry, beginning with their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry and Chemistry Education at Southwest Baptist University from 2012 to 2016. Following their undergraduate studies, they went on to complete their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry at Vanderbilt University from 2016 to 2021.
