Erik Wurster has a diverse work experience in the field of sustainable energy and environmental markets. Erik started their career in 2001 as a Project Manager at Energy Saving International. From there, they worked at the United Nations Development Programme as a Sustainable Energy Consultant from 2003 to 2007. Following that, they joined E+Co as a Manager in Carbon Finance, where they provided financial services to small and medium-sized enterprises that promote sustainable energy technologies in developing countries. In 2011, Erik co-founded UpEnergy, a company that focuses on fighting poverty, improving health, and protecting forests by providing clean energy technologies to individuals in developing regions. At UpEnergy, they served as the Chief Executive Officer until 2015 and then continued as a Co-founder, Board Member, and Advisor. Erik also has experience in Rwanda, serving as a Board Member at Inyenyeri - a Rwandan Social Benefit Company from 2013 to 2020. Most recently, Erik joined BioLite as the VP of Environmental Markets and Sustainability. BioLite specializes in designing and manufacturing consumer energy products for off-grid communities worldwide, with a focus on clean cooking solutions in India and sub-Saharan Africa.

Erik Wurster started their education journey in 1996 at the University of Colorado Boulder, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Sciences. During their time there, they focused on coursework in subjects such as political science, economics, environmental economics, calculus, and chemistry. In 1999, they had the opportunity to study abroad at the School for International Training in Nepal, where they earned undergraduate credit.

After completing their Bachelor's degree, Erik went on to attend the Harvard Kennedy School from 2005 to 2007. At Harvard, they pursued a Masters in Public Policy. During this program, they undertook coursework in various fields, including economics, econometrics, political science, and energy policy.

Overall, Erik's education history showcases a strong foundation in environmental sciences, with a subsequent specialization in public policy through their master's program at Harvard.
