James McElhannon

Sr Lead Software Architect at bioMérieux

James McElhannon has extensive work experience in the field of software engineering and project management. James started their career as a Consultant to several Oil-and-Gas companies in the Tulsa area in 1989. Later, they worked as a Consultant to Anheuser-Busch and MIS Consultant at Anheuser-Busch from 1993 to 2000, where they were responsible for architecture, full life-cycle implementation, and support of warehouse systems. James then joined ARINC as a Sr. Manager, Engineering from 2000 to 2002, where they managed engineering development personnel and outsourced projects. James also contributed to creating technical specifications for passenger processing and customer self-service kiosks. From 2002 to 2007, they worked as a Sr. Technical Manager and Lead Architect, Software Engineering at ARINC, where they led the requirements and architecture processes for various projects, including the flagship airline and airport management system. James then joined SITA as a Lead Architect, Software Engineering from 2007 to 2011, where they led requirements and architecture processes for projects related to airline and airport management systems. After that, they worked at NCR Corporation as a Sr. Solution Manager, Travel Platform from 2011 to 2012, managing the self-service kiosk travel platform used by airlines, airports, car rentals, and bus lines. In 2012, they joined Solution Consultants as a Sr. Project Manager, leading a project to purchase and roll out project management software. James also created custom integrations between software systems during this project. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as an Adjunct Professor at Webster University, teaching software-related courses. Since 2014, they have been working at bioMérieux as a Sr Lead Engineer & Project Manager, where they have been involved in enhancing a scientific application utilizing scientific instruments to process lab samples and determine the appropriate treatment for patients. In 2023, they also joined St. Charles Community College and bioMérieux as an Adjunct Professor and Sr Lead Software Architect, respectively. Overall, James McElhannon has a strong background in software engineering, project management, and teaching.

James McElhannon has a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois (Springfield) and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Webster University. James also holds additional certifications including CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) from Scrum Alliance obtained in June 2018 and CSM (Certified ScrumMaster) from Scrum Alliance obtained in June 2017. James is also a PMP certified by PMI.
