Odessa Gomez

Odessa Gomez, PhD has over 15-years of experience in engineering design and research. Her background has spanned the energy sector, building science, public health, air quality, and education. Odessa received her BS in Chemical & Biological Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and her MS in Chemical & Biological Engineering and Ph.D. in Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. She has been awarded a number of fellowships for research efforts in the built environment, including the EPA Science To Achieve Results (STAR) Graduate Fellowship focused on indoor air pollution impacts on health and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow in Microbiology of the Built Environment. Her work in this space has contributed to multiple research publications and presentations.

Odessa has also had the pleasure to teach Engineering Design as adjunct faculty with the Engineering, Design & Society Department at the Colorado School of Mines. When not geeking out with the Biomimicry Design Alliance, Odessa conducts research at the University of Colorado Boulder on the design and implementation of air quality monitoring and control technologies for the built environment.
