Ali Afghan has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Starting in 1985, Ali worked as a Test Engineer at Horizon Engineering, where they conducted air pollution emission testing and infrared thermographic inspections. Ali then moved on to work as a Project Engineer/Manager at MFIA Inc. Consulting Engineers, where they were responsible for designing and coordinating mechanical and plumbing systems for commercial and industrial facilities. From 1993 to 1997, Ali served as the Mechanical Dept. Manager at R & W Engineering, Inc., where they successfully formed and managed a department, handled business profitability and client management. Ali later joined Intel Corporation in 1997 and took on various roles, including Sr. Construction Project Manager, Factory Tool Install Program Manager, and Research and Development Facilities Construction Program Manager. Ali excelled in these positions, providing leadership and guidance to regional teams and managing high-priority projects with a focus on safety and streamlining. In 2003, Ali once again worked as a Research and Development Facilities Construction Program Manager at Intel Corporation and was responsible for delivering successful multi-phased projects. In 2010, they became the Corporate Global Health and Safety Director, overseeing the health and safety of Intel's worldwide operations. Ali then joined AAI Engineering in 2014 as the Director of Professional Services before moving to Genentech in 2015. At Genentech, Ali served as the Associate Director of Project Management and later as the Sr. Director of Individualized Cell and Gene Therapy. Finally, in 2023, Ali joined BioNTech SE as the Product Lead. Throughout their career, Ali has consistently demonstrated strong leadership skills, expertise in project management, and a focus on safety and efficiency.

Ali Afghan has a strong educational background with a focus on engineering. Ali obtained a Bachelor's Degree in General Science from Portland State University in 1982. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same university, completing it in 1983. Ali then engaged in Post-Graduate Studies at Portland State University until 1984.

In addition to their academic achievements, Ali Afghan also holds various certifications. Ali obtained the Registered Professional Engineer designation from the State of Oregon in July 1992, and from the State of Washington in June 1997. Furthermore, they completed the Principles Of Occupational Safety and Health program offered by the National Safety Council in February 2013, and obtained the OSHA 511 Standards For General Industry certification from OSHA in August 2013.
