Dr. Simon Unthan

Dr. Simon Unthan is currently the Senior Director RNA Manufacturing Technology Development & Automation at BioNTech SE. Dr. Simon has extensive experience in automating nucleic acid processes for R&D and GMP Manufacturing, as well as developing novel process technologies for high throughput production of personalized APIs. Prior to their current role, Dr. Simon worked at Forschungszentrum Jülich as a PhD and Master Student, focusing on high-throughput phenotyping and enzyme analytics. Dr. Unthan also has research experience from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Boehringer Ingelheim, with a strong educational background in biotechnology and process science.
