Salil Apte

Salil Apte is a Research and Development Engineer at Biospectal SA since July 2023, focusing on algorithm development through signal processing and machine learning. Currently serving as a Scientist at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne since August 2018, Salil manages longitudinal real-world data collection with amputees in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross and develops biomarkers with multimodal sensor data. As a former Doctoral Researcher, Salil conducted biomechanical analysis using wearable sensors, while also managing multiple research projects and teaching at EPFL. Prior experiences include roles as an Algorithm Developer at Gait Up S.A., Biorobotics Researcher at Delft University of Technology, and various positions in biomechanical design and engineering. Salil holds a PhD in Robotics, Control, and Intelligent Systems from EPFL, a Master’s in Biomechanical Design from Delft University of Technology, and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
