Jakub Kotowski

Jakub Kotowski has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Jakub currently serves as the Head of AI at BioXcel Therapeutics, Inc. starting from 2021. Previously, they worked at MSD from 2015 to 2021, where they held various positions, including Director of AI Lab, Associate Director of Artificial Intelligence, and Solution Architect Tech Lead. At MSD, they led teams of AI experts and software engineers to develop global solutions and build AI products.

Before joining MSD, Jakub worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Sindice from 2012 to 2015, where they developed innovative tools for understanding large datasets. Jakub also contributed significantly to the design and development of the next generation big data pipeline at DERI, where they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher from 2012 to 2013.

Jakub's entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found TalentHacker in 2011, a startup focused on social education and mentoring. Jakub also worked as a Researcher at Ludwig-Maximilians Universität München from 2008 to 2011, specializing in knowledge representation and reasoning. Earlier in their career, they held software engineering roles at Sun Microsystems and HP, where they worked on improving translation memory systems and implementing automated tests.

Jakub Kotowski began their education in 2001 at Charles University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Artificial Intelligence and non-procedural programming. Jakub completed this program in 2007. In 2005, they briefly attended Prague University of Economics and Business, studying Business Administration but did not complete a degree in this field. Following this, Jakub continued their academic journey at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München in 2008. Jakub pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science and successfully obtained it in 2011.
