Sean Makins

Sean joined Birch Hill in 2013. Sean has a leadership role in Birch Hill’s investments in Harbour Air, Citron Hygiene, and Cozzini Bros. He was also a key member of the Shred-it investment team. Sean has contributed significantly to the development of Birch Hill’s intellectual capital. Most notably, Sean created our Data Science group which has given Birch Hill a distinctive capability among global private equity firms and helped us generate superior returns.

Prior to joining Birch Hill, Sean was an Analyst in the Investment Banking Division of J.P. Morgan Chase, where he worked on several mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions in the energy sector.

Sean received his B.Comm. (with distinction) from the University of Calgary.
