Sakthy Selvakumaran has a wealth of professional experience in the engineering and construction sectors. In 2019, they became the CEO & Founder of BKwai, a software platform providing visualisations and data analytics for instrumentation and monitoring data in the construction sector. From 2015 to 2018, they were a Research Fellow in Engineering and PhD Researcher at the University of Cambridge, conducting research on risk and resilience of infrastructure through remote measurement and monitoring of assets. From 2011 to 2013, they held the role of Innovation Engineer at Laing O'Rourke, and prior to that, they were an Engineering Director at CBS Eng Consultants. In 2018, they were part of the Young Professionals Panel at the National Infrastructure Commission. From 2011 to 2013, they were a Design Engineer at Ramboll UK, working on civil engineering projects. In 2011, they were an Assistant Project/Cost Manager in Madrid for Davis Langdon, and also held the role of Contracted Consultant for Engineers Without Borders UK and Patent Translator for Grupo Vivanco & García. Sakthy began their professional career in 2007 as an Engineer at Gifford, working on projects such as the London Docklands Light Railway 3 Car Upgrade.
Sakthy Selvakumaran completed a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge in 2019. Prior to that, they obtained a MEng, MA (cantab) in Engineering from the University of Cambridge in 2010.
