Selvam Velmurugan

Selvam joins Blink Health from Aetion where he was the Chief Technology and Product Officer responsible for engineering, product, operations, and IT/security related functions. In early 2020, Aetion was rated within top 10 workplaces for innovators by FastCompany.

Prior to Aetion, Selvam spent more than 22 years building software and high-functioning teams at world-class organizations including Amazon, Netflix, and Groupon. During his 10 year tenure at Amazon, he worked on both retail systems (search, browse, pricing, selection) and AWS services (accounts, billing, payments) besides helping setup a development center in Chennai, India. At Netflix, he managed the user accounts, billing, payments, and communication teams and helped migrate those systems into the cloud. Later at Groupon, he worked on computational marketing services before taking on the role of CTO APAC, where he was responsible for the overall e-commerce platforms across 11 countries generating over $750M in bookings.

Besides his experience at for-profit organizations, Selvam also founded and ran a technology non-profit (eMoksha) to promote election monitoring and corruption tracking in developing countries. Later he headed philanthropic technology initiatives at Vulcan working with Paul Allen, on applying technological solutions in the areas of wildlife poaching, illegal fishing, homelessness, and biodiversity conservation.

Selvam has a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Science and a diploma in film-making.
