Michael Wellenbeck

Michael Wellenbeck has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various roles and industries. Currently, they serve as the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) at Blocksize Capital GmbH since April 2022. Prior to this, they were the Managing Owner at Wellenbecks Vermögensverwaltung GmbH starting from December 2021.

From 2016 onwards, Wellenbeck founded and operated Wellenbecks Advisory Services GmbH, a boutique provider of advisory services for network economies in Germany. In this role, they offered strategic support to various market infrastructure entities and their clients in adapting to changing economic, political, regulatory, and technological environments.

Before that, they co-founded and held the position of Managing Co-Owner in Qyte Software & Solutions GmbH, a technology start-up specializing in data mining and fraud detection technology. Michael co-founded this company in 2005 and maintained a majority stake in the business.

Wellenbeck also has experience working at renowned financial institutions. Michael served as the Head of Strategy Implementation at Euronext from June 2014 to January 2016 and as a Senior Vice President at Intercontinental Exchange from November 2013 to June 2014. Prior to that, they held the position of Senior Vice President at NYSE Euronext from July 2012 to November 2013 and from September 2009 to June 2012.

Furthermore, Wellenbeck worked at Deutsche Börse, where they held the role of Senior Vice President in Group Strategy from July 2007 to June 2009. Earlier in their career, they served in various roles at Deutsche Börse Systems, including Senior Project Manager and Senior Account Manager. In these positions, they contributed to significant projects such as the development of the "Eurex US" project and the implementation of the "Central Counter Party" (CCP) for Eurex.

Additionally, Wellenbeck embarked on a sabbatical from February 2016 to August 2016, taking a break from their professional endeavors. Overall, their work experience showcases their expertise in strategy development and implementation, change management, and providing advisory services within the financial and technology sectors.

Michael Wellenbeck received their Bachelor's degree in Business Economics from RWTH Aachen University, which they attended from 1990 to 1995. In 2005, they participated in an Executive Education program at the London Business School, completing the ADP53 course. In 2010, Michael attended INSEAD for the NYSE Leadership Program, another Executive Education program.
