Shari Sternberger is the President/CEO of BLOCKsynop, where she focuses on the support and growth of the team, organization, and product line. Her current responsibilities center on logistics and vendor identification and will evolve and expand as BLOCKsynop grows and matures.
After earning her BS in Food Nutrition, Shari started her career at Johns Hopkins University/Applied Physics Lab (JHU/APL) as the assistant manager overseeing four cafeterias and specialized catering. Seeking to extend her ability to collaborate, organize, plan, and multitask, Shari transitioned to procurement. She secured services and specialized materials/equipment for JHU/APL and government contracts. Areas that Shari supported included space exploration, biomedical, transportation, facility maintenance, and waste stream management projects, ensuring that they were procured efficiently, on schedule, and as specified by the end-user.
Since retiring from JHU/APL, Shari earned multiple certifications in complementary medical modalities. She started a small business providing those modalities for the community. This included designing a dedicated specialized office to best meet the needs of her human and animal clients. As a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner, Shari initiated and continues to coordinate Healing Touch Training for nurses and other medical staff at the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC.
Shari co-founded National Capital Therapy Dogs, a nonprofit volunteer program celebrating its 30th anniversary* of bringing animal-assisted activities and therapy (AAA/T) to clinical facilities in Maryland, Virginia, and DC. She also worked as a volunteer and advisor with Pet Partners, a national nonprofit, to assist in the establishment of protocols, training, and assessments for their national AAA/T programs.
